Business Professionals Scramble to Grant Wishes

9/3/2007 12:00:00 AM

Tampa, Florida - September 3, 2007 – Roger West Creative and Code, an integrated marketing and technology company located in Tampa, FL, is hosting the first ever Tampa Bay Scramble Golf Tournament. The event is a part of a corporate-giving strategy, and all proceeds of the unique fundraising event will be donated to the local chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Michael Westafer, CEO of Roger West Creative and Code, is the real heart and soul behind the event. “As an entrepreneur in the Tampa Bay area, I am really thankful for the support my business and I have received from this community,” said Westafer. “I’ve talked to a lot of other business owners and professionals who feel the same. I wanted to find a creative way that we could give back to the community collectively,” he continued.

That is when the Tampa Bay Scramble Golf Tournament was born. The event is a golf tournament played by teams of four and is based on scramble scoring. “It’s a team-oriented event and provides a relaxing atmosphere for professionals to come together, build camaraderie, and raise money for an honorable cause,” says Westafer. Players pay a fee for a round of golf, which includes a luncheon and awards ceremony after the game. Funds are also raised by collecting donations and raffling prizes, like golf equipment and apparel, gift cards, and more. “We will also be selling mulligans, which are free swings on the golf course,” states Westafer.

The fundraising event will be held on Saturday, September 15th, 2007 at the Eagle’s Golf Club in Odessa, FL. Check-in for the event begins at 7:00 a.m. with shot-gun at 8:00 a.m. The cost for the event is $300 per team based on a four-player team. The price includes 18 holes of golf, lunch, awards, and door prizes. Teams must register in advance prior to September 14, 2007. Sponsorship opportunities are also available at various giving levels.
