Future Looks Bright for Tampa Bay Scramble Charity Golf Tournament

Tampa, Florida – March 6, 2009 – Roger West Creative and Code, a full-service integrated marketing and technology agency specializing in web design and online marketing, announced this week that they will be hosting the second annual Tampa Bay Scramble Charity Golf Tournament on Saturday, May 16th at the Bardmoor Golf Club, with tee time at 1:00 PM.

This year’s event will benefit the United Way of Tampa Bay (UWTB) to help families within the Tampa Bay community achieve economic stability and independence. Many times, an individual has done all they can to build a brighter future for themselves when they hit a financial roadblock. Usually, it’s only a few hundred dollars standing in the way of realizing sustainable employment, securing quality child care, and achieving overall economic stability. Project Brightside, a program of the United Way Tampa Bay, provides small grants to families in the Tampa Bay area to help them jump the last hurdle.

Tampa Bay Scramble is a charity golf tournament played by a team of four golfers based on scramble scoring. “It’s a team-oriented event and provides a relaxing atmosphere for professionals to come together, build camaraderie, and raise money for an honorable cause,” said Michael Westafer, CEO of Roger West. Players pay a fee for a round of golf, which includes a luncheon and awards ceremony following the scramble. Funds are also raised by collecting donations and selling raffle tickets.

“This year’s charity golf tournament will be slightly different from last year’s event,” said Westafer. “Last year the golf tournament was just a small idea to do something good for our community. Now we are changing things up a bit, partnering with other sponsors and expecting a great turnout.” Other sponsors of the event include the Tampa Bay Business Journal, Red Bull, C & D Printing, WTAN Talk Radio, and Williams Broadcast Communications.
